M+ Solar nabs Energy award at Middle East International Business Awards 2021

They have installed an 849 kWp solar PV project for the food processing industry under challenging conditions.

Solar energy provider M+ Solar by PETRONAS won in the Energy category during the recently held Asian Business Review’s Middle East International Business Awards 2021 for its installation of an 849 kWp solar PV project in the food processing industry at Dubai Investment Park.

The installation was performed whilst the manufacturing facility was working under the roof, which made the execution challenging and prompted the development team to take additional safety precautions to ensure best practices were being adopted, along with international standards for safety and construction equipment.

M+ Solar also maintained a state-of-the-art quality when developing the project, applying efficient space utilisation by taking advantage of both neighbouring skylight areas, as well as walkway optimisation by efficiently building the pathways in consideration of both safety and space restrictions to ensure capacity estimation is not compromised.

At the same time, safety considerations including heavy-duty mesh skylight protection were added, to offer the highest quality whilst avoiding any harm to the client's property, as they are some of the unique aspects in engineering design.

The plant performance is monitored remotely through M+ Solar’s in-house remote monitoring solution Hawk AI. They monitor ambient & module temperature sensors, data logger, and irradiance sensors.

Even after solar power installation, the O&M work is carried out with strict adherence to safety norms at the site. The electricity generated will be used predominantly by the facility, with the surplus exported to DEWA’s grid network.

Despite external hurdles in the previous year such as the COVID-19 pandemic and human intervention, which interrupted the project, the entire team working on this project was able to deliver high-quality work well in time. This provided M+ Solar with the opportunity to champion innovative pathways.
