In this interview, SSI Securities Corporation delves into the inner workings of its award-winning p-Suite, understanding the technology safeguards it employs to ensure uninterrupted data generation and its groundbreaking features like FastConnect, which have set it apart from other market tools.

Since p-Suite provides real-time streaming of equity and index information through its market analysis tools, what are the solution’s safeguards in case of an error or delays with the data generation? How do you make sure that this technology can still do its tasks despite these interruptions?

SSI incorporates robust technology safeguards across almost all aspects. For critical components, we go beyond merely implementing an N+1 system, instead employing an N+2 setup to ensure no surprise in any circumstances.

Real-time information streaming falls into this N+2 criteria. The architecture of information streaming has been specifically designed to leverage micro-services and standard API model. By doing so, we minimise interdependencies between facilities and enhance the overall reliability of our services. To optimise resource allocation in accordance with demand, our deployment model utilises Docker/Container technology.

This dynamic approach allows us to efficiently scale capacity and accommodate varying workloads. In terms of service monitoring, we have cutting-edge facilities for Application Performance Monitoring and automated risk detectors to alert our professionals to take proactive measures, mitigating potential risks and ensuring they do not escalate into critical issues. 

Your company also provides an open API tool, FastConnect, to proficient trades aspiring to execute algorithmic or quantitative trading strategies. What makes this feature essential in p-Suite? What sets this capability apart from similar features in other market tools?

Extensive research was conducted to analyse the services offered by successful trading firms in the region and compare them with our own offerings. The findings from this comprehensive study provided us with the confidence to introduce our new product suite, p-Suite, with FastConnect serving as its foundational component. Building upon FastConnect, we developed additional components to enhance our service offering.

When catering to long-term investors who prioritise the financial health and business prospects of listed companies, our iBoard portal provides an array of analytical tools tailored to their needs.

In contrast, short-term traders place greater emphasis on regional/global influences, market dynamics, momentum, and technical analysis. These require strategic analysis based on real-time data. FastConnect empowers traders to streamline such analytical activities by automating trading actions based on predefined conditions, all in a user-friendly coding format. Whilst API service itself is not complex, the key lies in leveraging its capabilities to further assist our customers effectively. 

For those customers not familiar with coding, we have developed a spin-out product called iExcel, which enables them to harness the benefits of FastConnect. By combining the user-friendly analytical capabilities of Excel with rich data streaming from iExcel, users can construct their strategic trading strategies without the need for coding. Additionally, the upcoming Generative AI feature in Excel will further simplify decision-making processes in trading.

p-Suite has been a game-changer for your professional clients since its inception. What do you think made them embrace this technology and boosted p-Suite and your company’s success?

We are fully aware of the unique challenges associated with promoting a technological service within a financial institution. Other than conventional marketing, we are working with other professional entities on promoting the services in their domains to effectively promote our offerings to a wider audience. Besides, we set up a team of professionals to research and develop templates, which are common algorithm programmes on our iExcel platform, to facilitate the adoption of our services. We are also actively working on establishing professional services that will assist customers in coding their customised algorithm programmes.

Winning the Asian Technology Excellence Awards, how do you plan to follow through on this success? Are there any similar activities or projects currently in line for your company?

The p-Suite product at SSI has a well-defined feature roadmap that emphasises continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. In addition to its current capabilities, we are committed to enhancing the product with several key features. For FastConnect, those include a special version for third-party tools integration and another version dedicated to institution customers. Additionally, we are developing an add-on for Google Spreadsheet, enabling our customers to seamlessly integrate p-Suite functionalities into their existing spreadsheet workflows. For algorithm programmes, we will extend our coverage to AWS hosting for our customers with maximum security for their programmes, where they can manage their execution anywhere and anytime comfortably with our iBoard Mobile App.
