Steel Recon Industries won the Excellence Award in Manufacturing at the Malaysia National Business Awards 2024
SRI shines as a beacon of Malaysian manufacturing prowess, exporting top-tier firefighting equipment globally and safeguarding major infrastructure.
Steel Recon Industries Sdn Bhd (SRI), known for its commitment to safety and reliability, represents the best of Malaysian manufacturing in the firefighting industry. With over 50 years of experience, SRI has become key in creating and shipping out top-notch firefighting solutions, boosting Malaysia's manufacturing reputation globally. This has positioned SRI as the leading candidate for the Excellence Award - Manufacturing at the Malaysia National Business Awards 2024.
SRI started with the vision of protecting people and property from fire. As the pioneer of the Malaysian firefighting industry, SRI helped start the Malaysian Fire Protection Association (MFPA) in 1982, now the main group for firefighting professionals in Malaysia. SRI's willingness to lead and expand its expertise has seen it grow its footprint in more than 60 countries globally.
Since beginning to sell abroad in 1982, first to Singapore and then to Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, SRI has exported products worth over RM2 billion. This global activity has not only given SRI valuable perspectives but also made it key in protecting Malaysia’s infrastructure. For instance, SRI's knowledge of foam firefighting systems was crucial for Malaysia's first aeroplane hangar fire suppression system in 1975, with its products now protecting local airports like KLIA and KLIA2, and international ones such as the Hamad International Airport in Qatar.
SRI has played a big role in major Malaysian infrastructure projects, such as the MRT2 and LRT3, by providing firefighting products. Its selection for these projects highlights its ability to offer locally-made, internationally approved-systems that are cost-effective and dependable. This strategy has helped SRI stand out from competitors, making it a top pick for large projects in Malaysia.
SRI's push into international markets and success in local projects has led to a significant revenue increase in FY2023. Multi-national corporations such as Intel, DHL, and GDS China who have chosen a Malaysian base rely on SRI’s firefighting solutions for their data centres and factories, proving the brand's reliability. SRI's role in iconic buildings like the Petronas Twin Towers and Sydney’s Darling Harbour shows the trust in its products, both locally and worldwide.
Steel Recon Industries Sdn Bhd's record of innovation, global success, and commitment to quality singles it out as a worthy nominee for the Excellence Award in Manufacturing at the Malaysia National Business Awards 2024. As a symbol of Malaysian manufacturing excellence and a guardian of global assets, SRI stands out in the firefighting industry, protecting lives and properties everywhere with its top-quality firefighting solutions.
