Western Digital KL Center of Excellence honoured at Asian Experience Awards 2024
Its GTR solution streamlines performance testing, cuts report generation time, enhances efficiency, and reduces costs.
Data storage solutions provider Western Digital has seen its KL Center Of Excellence (KL COE) honoured at the highly regarded Asian Experience Awards 2024 for its groundbreaking solution Goodbye Tedious Report (GTR) that revolutionises hard disk drive performance testing by automating report generation, reducing manual effort, and enabling faster and more informed decision-making.
The GTR solution not only streamlines report generation but also reduces the learning curve for engineers. By empowering them to focus on high-value tasks and minimising reliance on experienced staff, the solution enhances scalability and decision-making. This user-friendly approach benefits firmware developers, performance validation engineers, and management, enabling faster results, cost savings and simplified reporting processes.
Whilst it is designed to be user-friendly for everyone, it specifically targets firmware developers who are deeply involved in firmware development, performance validation engineers who ensure the efficiency and reliability of the firmware, and managers and directors who oversee these processes. By addressing the unique needs of these key roles, the system aims to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and facilitate better communication and reporting across all levels of the organisation.
GTR has significantly simplified the report generation process, reducing it from five to two steps, cutting down the time required from two hours to just 10 minutes. It also does not require any specialised knowledge, making it accessible to everyone.
Additionally, one engineer can manage multiple programmes with the solution, allowing for reallocation of capacity to other critical projects.
The solution has also expanded its scope to support other validation types, such as continuous integration and experiment testing.
“Our new approach has led to faster performance testing results, enabling quicker code releases and more rapid decision-making. Stakeholders can now make swifter decisions thanks to the immediate and accurate accessibility of results on our scalable platform. Additionally, by eliminating the need for expensive third-party software, we have significantly reduced the costs associated with performance testing reporting,” the company said.
The successful implementation of the GTR solution has earned Western Digital the Malaysia User Experience of the Year - Engineering category win at the prestigious awards programme.
The Asian Experience Awards celebrates companies that are leading the way in building a sustainable future. It also highlights businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in environmental, social, and governance practices.
